I wouldn’t recommend Isla Paradiso - it’s interesting and visually appealing but the world was designed so poorly that it may crash the game, which was never patched. I think Seasons, Late Night, and Generations add quite a lot the the experience. Other than that, they can be bought cheaply on some websites which allow players to sell codes to other players but they’re often shady (the games that they sell might have been bought with money from stolen credit cards which may cause them to get eventually deleted from your Origin account).
And there’s a lot of expansion packs so even with the bargains it may add up to cost quite a lot. Sometimes there are nice bargains on Origin, otherwise they’re still pricy considering how long it’s been since their release. It may be difficult because generally The Sims is not a cheap game with its numerous expansion and stuff packs. Some packs have ok content but they don't do much really. I'm currently looking at installing Supernatural for a different playstyle and I'm not likely to use showtime because of its similarity to late night and certain features aren't worth it.Īvoid sweet stuff by Katy Perry as it really isn't worth it.
The campus you visit offers a lot and again is a great expansion pack to buy. University, where young adults to elders can go to learn and earn degrees to get a step up in their careers,social media and science are two new skills. This fleshes out a lot of the life stages of a sim. Loads of new fun activities and items for kids. Generations focuses on what matters most, family and growing up. This is a good expansion to have overall. Late night gives you a city with apartments to live in, experience the city life through bars, clubs and vampires? Become a celebrity and form a band or moonlight as a mixologist.

I currently have pets, ambitions, late night, generations, seasons and university. If you want to see which packs and expansions are worth it, I highly suggest looking up Lazy Gamer Reviews as he did a review of every pack and expansion and even ranked them from best to worse in a final video. The expansions are £5 each and stuff packs are £3 each. I picked up Sims 3 and pets bundled together for £9 or so. Very frequently you can get a 75% discount.
Your best bet is, as others have mentioned, to wait for the steam sales to occur.
